About the Department
Department of Statistics at Mattu University was launched in 2006E.C/2013 under the College of Natural and Computational Sciences, with BSc degree in Statisitcs program. Initially, it began its activities with intake capacity of about 54 students. Until now, the department has graduated more than 343 students. Currently, there are about 39 students at undergraduate program.

HoD's Message
Statistics is a science that deals with the principles and methods of data gathering, presentation, analysis, and interpretation. Particularly in the twenty-first century, as computer technology has advanced, the demand for persons with statistical thinking and analysis skills in many various industries including as commerce, industry, and health has grown fast.
Despite the fact that our department is not as large as other departments at Mattu University, it has valuable lecturers who are specialists in their domains, dynamic, and constantly updating themselves in response to these advancements. Our department would be grateful if you could join us in this endeavor.

Mission
Producing skillful and competent graduates/ professionals who can manage and supervise the activities of statistical units/ offices both at governmental and non- governmental organizations.
Training middle level statisticians in order to meet the demands of the socio-economic, business and development sectors in the country.
Providing statistical trainings, research and consultancy services that alleviates the societal problems through continuous improvement, commitments and quality management processes.
